Arthur Laycock, Timaru

Arthur is clearly a valued member of the Timaru community having more than one nomination received for him.  For 48 years Arthur has been rising before 2am each day to deliver milk to Timaru businesses and community groups seven days a week taking only Christmas each year off.  He also manages to do 57 deliveries to country customers a week and is New Zealand’s longest service milkman being inducted into the Goodman Field vendor and contractor Hall of Fame on his 70th birthday.

Rachel Tomkinson, Timaru

Rachel’s journey began with the birth of her daughter Jenna in 2005 who was diagnosed with 24 food allergies and severe eczema.  Determined the improve the quality of her daughter’s life and after many many hours of research, Rachel determined that only unprocessed food with no MSG provided the best results for Jenna and she is now completely cured.

This experience led to Rachel sharing her information free of charge at workshops around NZ and Sth Canterbury and provides support to those suffering from food allergies and skin complaints.  She preaches that once you know the truth modern diseases become a choice – simple but radical changes are the keys to better health.
Rachel was nominated by a mother whose son was suffered many allergies, was always sick and miserable.  The knowledge and support of Rachel has transformed the family’s lives.
Rachel has since published a recipe book, produced a Better Grocery Shop DVD and opened an online store providing real food and chemical free products the success of which has led to the opening of an actual physical store.

Her motto “ a little crazy on the outside but all good on the inside”
